The project is presently in the development phase
Students in the Chepang region of Nepal come from extremely remote and isolated areas where basic facilities such as education, healthcare, markets, and roads are unavailable. Their families live in poverty, lack employment opportunities, lack healthcare, and have no means to support their children’s education. Many students must walk two to three hours each way to attend secondary school. Accordingly, attendance is poor for many of the children from the area.
Our objective is to provide improved access to quality education. The project plan is to have the secondary school operate a hostel in an existing school facility. The hostel will provide a safe living environment for 20 students and contribute to their academic success as well as their personal and social development. The students will receive free meals, healthcare, clothes, school uniforms and educational tutoring.
The secondary school in Dhading Nepal has developed plans for establishing and operating the hostel. Short term, the school will transform existing space in the school to a school staffed live in hostel. Long term, a new dedicated hostel would be constructed if needed. Ten Friends and other organizations are being asked to consider contributing funds to the project.
As with any such project, one of the keys will be to raise adequate funds to support the project and to sustain it throughout the years. Primary reliance will be on individuals willing to contribute funds and/or to sponsor individual children. Contributions from other partner organizations, foundations and the Nepal government will also be sought. We encourage you to participate with us in achieving the project.
We look forward to sharing with you how this project has impacted the lives of Chepang area children We are hopeful that the impacts will have been transformative and have helped to end the cycle of poverty.
Please stay tuned for details .......
