Unfortunately it all comes down to money! We have provided in the following sections preliminary budget estimates and anticipated funding requirements. Since the project will be developed through a phased approach, we have provided estimates for each major project phase.
It should be noted that the budget estimates presented at this time reflect our best "guesstimate" and will be refined as we get further into the project.

The present budget estimate for the purchase of land to support the Tilahi Village project is $xxx, xxx on the low end and $xxx, xxx on the high side. This estimate includes the purchase of the land, land acquisition / processing fees, land registration fees, and ten years of property taxes. In addition, a small stipend is included for an on-site land purchase facilitator.
The present budget estimate for placing the land into agricultural production is $00000 on the low side and $00000 on the high side. The majority of the cost involves providing irrigation water through the construction of a diversion canal from the local river. Costs associated with providing initial seeds and soil enhancement are also included. In addition, expenses are included for providing simple farming implements for use by local villagers and for crop storage. Five years of reserve funds are also included.
The present estimate for providing safe water is between $00000 and $00000. This estimate reflects drilling two wells and the installation of filters and hand pumps.
The present estimate for constructing eight sanitary latrines is between $00000 and $00000.
Since this phase of the project is off into the future, this number represents only a "holding place" and a better estimate will be provided once a determination is made requiring how many facilities will be needed and the costs for each facility.
The present total budget estimate for the construction of housing is between $000000 and $00000. The estimate reflect the costs of materials for the homes and a small charge for a "construction" supervisor and the services of an electrician. There is no other labor costs included in the estimate as families are expected to provide the "sweat equity" involved in the structures' actual construction.
Since this phase of the project is off into the future, this number represents only a "holding place" and a better estimate will be provided once a determination is made regarding the actual material costs.
In addition, the expenditure is anticipated to occur over a period of years since homes will likely be constructed over multiple years -- perhaps with ten of the 50 homes to be constructed each year.
The present budget estimate associated with the construction of a community center is between $00000 and $00000. This phase of the village project is in the future and clearly costs will change. The estimate reflects material costs and limited labor costs. The vision is that local members of the village will participate in the actual construction of the community center and will provide most of the labor associated with its construction.
Since this phase of the project is off into the future, this number represents only a "holding place" and a better estimate will be provided once a determination is made regarding the structure design and associated material costs.
